THE latest bid by Renault to stay at the forefront of car design has been revealed in London.

The new Fluence (pictured), billed by industry insiders as the first taste of a new Laguna, follows the theme started with the Wind roadster unveiled in March.

The sloping front contrasts with the vertical rear in the 4.6-metre long car, about the same length as a Laguna. Powered by a 3.5-litre V6 developing nearly 300bhp, it has a six-speed automatic transmission.

A spokesman said: 'There are no plans to put this into production but it will heavily influence new Renaults in the next two to three years.'
