Riders wanting to buy an electric scooter are being offered a rebate of £500 off the price of a new green bike from ScootElectric.

Twenty rebates are being given on a first-come-first-served basis with scooters ranging from £1,900 to £2,750 before the discount.

Tony Cheverall, marketing director at ScootElectric, said: 'We are hoping this is the start of a number of initiatives that local authorities will run to promote green schemes.

'Camden will looking at other initiatives for the next phase of its scheme, including public recharging bays, secure storage and free parking for electric scooters.'
