Sprinters race in to aid southern utility fleet

Southern Electric Contracting, owned by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), has ordered the fleet of 20 Sprinters, bringing its total number to 120.

Martin Chiddle, fleet specification manager for SSE, said: ‘There are very few competitor products to the Sprinter that can meet our requirements in terms of vehicle size, payload and general flexibility. The Mercedes is also very popular with our drivers, who appreciate its combination of car-like comfort and safety features.’

The new fleet will be decked out in the livery of Southern Electric Contracting and will have on board ‘cherry pickers’ which will be used to maintain street lights.
