By the end of October, the company will be using 38 Mercedes-Benz LPG-powered Sprinters for deliveries in the capital. The vehicles are exempt from the £5-a-day congestion charge and the investment is set to save the company hundreds of pounds every month. FedEx UK & Ireland fleet manager Peter Redgwell said: ‘We were previously absorbing the cost of the congestion charge.

‘The arrival of these new, alternatively-fuelled Sprinters means that as well as contributing towards improved air quality for those who live and work in London, we’ve also been able to take this significant extra cost out of our business.’
