Portable tracker launched

The AsItMoves device is self-contained, with no wires or connections. It needs a clear view of the sky, although it can ‘see’ through glass, plastic and wood, but not metal.

Using satellite navigation technology, as used by aircraft, the system pinpoints the location of a vehicle which may be stolen, broken down or in an accident. It communicates via the mobile phone system and works with its own software which is installed on to a computer at home or work.

This software shows the location of the vehicle being tracked and also a history of where it has been, on a moving-map display.

The first 10,000 units are being offered free (normal recommended retail price £299 inc. VAT) when the buyer signs up for a 24 month SIM card contract, costing £29.99 rental per month per unit, which includes up to 280 tracks per month usage. A high user deal is available, which includes a free unit, and £49.99 rental, covering 500 tracks a month.
