VAUXHALL will unveil a high-performance Astra concept in Paris today that points the way to a new VXR model.
Using a version of the engine found in the VXR220 roadster, the Astra HPC develops 240bhp and 229lb-ft of torque and has the IDS Plus electronic chassis control from the standard Astra, with a six-speed manual transmission and 19-inch wheels.
The concept car features a wider and lower air intake at the front than the standard Astra, a styling kit to make it stand out and a diffuser incorporated into the rear bumper to direct airflow and reduce lift at high speed. Inside, there are Recaro sports seats and leather trim details matched to the exterior colour, new instruments and a new finish to the centre of the dashboard.
The Astra VXR is expected to arrive in the UK next summer.
