    Volvo S60 facelift
It might not look very different, but the 2005 model S60 (and V70 and XC70) hides a raft of improvements and some important new safety technology. Volvo’s BLIS (blindspot information system) will make its debut as an option priced at about £500 as a useful third eye constantly looking behind and alerting the driver if another vehicle is approaching in the outside lane when overtaking.

    Peugeot 407 SW
THE second body-style in the 407 range, the SW seems to straddle the line between hatchback and estate. It isn’t a proper load-lugger like the Citroen C5, Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Vectra, but has stand-out styling and the rear portion cuts a dash that echoes all the best sporty estates. The forthcoming 2.7 HDi V6 should be a gem for transporting a family in swift, smooth and refined style.
