SUBARU’S new Impreza range will be priced from £16,200 to £26,995 when it goes on sale next month.

As well as the sporty WRX and STi versions, which both receive a new 2.5-litre engine offering 227bhp and 277bhp respectively, there is a new 2.0-litre entry model with 158bhp.

Changes for the new car include a redesigned front end and raised equipment levels throughout the range.

Subaru will also launch an STi Spec D version, with the D standing for Discreet. Initially a limited edition of 300 cars, the Spec D is based on the extreme STi model but does away with its flashy gold wheels and huge rear spoiler and replaces them with a smaller spoiler, black leather seats, satellite navigation and an upgraded stereo. Prices will be close to the STi at about £27,000.
