DAIMLERCHRYSLER is hoping a liveried smart fortwo will help win it further fleet sales from the fire service.

The vehicle will be displayed at the Fire 2005 exhibition at the G-Mex Centre in Manchester next week.

DaimlerChrysler Services Fleet Management (DCSFM) will host the smart on its stand and has already supplied 20 such vehicles to Cheshire Fire Services (CFS) for use at public roadshows.

The company says that the success of the CFS safety campaigns using smarts will interest other forces.

Sales and marketing director Paul Harrop said such high profile vehicles can have a major impact on public awareness.

He said: ‘The experience in Cheshire has been very positive and the Cheshire Fire Service smart fleet is definitely contributing to the success of safety campaigns throughout the region. We understand that there has been interest from other fire services, which emphasises the importance of our attendance at Fire 2005.’
