Merc GL launch

MERCEDES-BENZ’S pursuit of every vehicle niche going continues with news of its latest launch – a seven-seat off-roader called the GL-class.

On sale in the UK at the end of 2006, the GL features permanent four-wheel drive, air suspension, the smooth 7G-tronic automatic gearbox and the choice of four engines – the familiar 3.2-litre V6 diesel and a new 4.2-litre V8 oil burner. A 5.5-litre V8 petrol unit will also be available, alongside an all-new 4.6-litre version. It will make its debut at next month’s Detroit Motor Show.
