SATELLITE navigation tops the ‘wish-list’ of company car drivers when choosing their new vehicles, a poll has shown.

More than half of company car drivers say they are spending a longer amount of time behind the wheel of their cars which have become a ‘home from home’.

Other comfort and safety features drivers want in their cars include climate control and a six-disc CD player.

More than 1,600 company car drivers responded to the survey carried out by Bank of Scotland Vehicle Finance as part of its Company Cars, the Drivers’ Perspective report.

Graham Hale, head of corporate business at Bank of Scotland Vehicle Finance, said: ‘The company car still remains a significant part of any staff recruitment and retention package and we are aware that employees are becoming ever more selective and demanding.

‘In fact, more than 20% of drivers would actually think of changing jobs if a better car was offered. The challenge for those responsible for fleet is to carefully balance an appreciation of their drivers’ aspirations while keeping control of costs.’

Top five safety and comfort features are: satellite navigation, climate control, airbags, six-disc CD player/Bose sound system/iPod holder, add-ons such as cup holders and mobile phone holders.
