Autosock

DEVELOPED in Norway, Autosock gives tyres extra grip in icy or snowy conditions. The sock is made from a woolly fabric which sticks to the snow or ice and can be used as an alternative to snow chains, according to the product manufacturer. After drivers apply the handbrake on the vehicle the sock begins to work. Starting at the top of the wheels and working downwards, it is pulled over the wheel. The vehicle is then moved one metre forwards and the remainder of the each sock pulled into position.

The socks weigh less than 1kg and can be stored with the spare wheel in any vehicle with one-size fitting more than 60% of UK cars.

    Air conditioning cleaner

COMMA’S Air Conditioning Cleaner has been developed to clean and sanitise the vehicle’s cooling system. Each canister contains a biocide, tested to meet European standards, which the company claims will kill all common bacteria, fungi, mould and viruses like e-coli. Drivers place the single-use aerosol inside the car, turn on the air-con unit, press the release button and shut the door. A mist is released which enters and cleans the cooling system. Comma claims that, once cleaned, the system will remain so for 8,000 miles or until the next service.

    No-fog glass treatment

RAINAWAY repels rain and dirt from any glass surface giving drivers better vision in wet conditions. The system works by filling microscopic pores in the glass surface with a water-repelling polymer. It also works to prevent ice from sticking to the windscreen in winter and an 118ml bottle is sufficient for several applications. Drivers should be able to go for at least a month in-between applications and even longer in the summer. Auto Unique also produces a No Fog glass treatment which is applied using a soft cloth and prevents windows from steaming up.
