THE British International Motor Show will no longer be held at Birmingham’s NEC centre following a decision by organisers to host it in London.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), which promotes the show, has chosen the ExCel centre at London Docklands as the next venue. The news is a blow to Birmingham which has hosted the show for almost 30 years.

SMMT, chief executive, Christopher Macgowan, said: ‘While we understand this decision will come as a disappointment to the Midlands, the reality is that ExCeL presented a very strong bid while the NEC was unable to deliver a proposal that responded to market demands.’
