CENTRICA has announced the result of a major review into the way thousands of British Gas vans are maintained.

The company has awarded the maintenance management contract to Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions, giving it its biggest-ever contract win.

The 9,000 LCVs are used by British Gas engineers to carry out service, maintenance and repair work.

Stuart Margerrison, head of fulfilment at British Gas, said: ‘By constructing a bespoke solution with total cost transparency, our evaluation team concluded that there was a genuine commitment to working in true partnership with us.’

Hitachi Capital was selected from a short list of four potential suppliers, reduced from an initial list of more than 20.
