Penalty review

THE Home Office has launched a consultation paper which aims to tackle bad or illegal driving with tougher penalties.

Key proposals include new offences of causing death by careless or illegal driving with a maximum five-year sentence. The consultation paper, Review of Road Traffic Offences Involving Bad Driving, is available at www.homeoffice.gov.uk. Interested parties have until May 6 to respond.
