Scott Westerby takes on the new role, reporting to CV operations manager Robert Handyside. He will be working with Citroen dealers to increase their LCV business as well as extending the firm’s links with specialist converters as part of its expanding Ready to Run programme.
On the stand with Westerby was the new Relay 900, a vehicle billed as ‘the big van with the small prices’. At £9,650 ex-VAT, the 900 is Citroen’s new entry-level Relay and boasts 7.5 cubic metres of loadspace – enough to fit an 8ft x 4ft panel lying down – and is powered by a 2.0 HDi common rail diesel powerplant offering 86bhp and 142lb-ft of torque. Also standard are a multi-adjustable truck type driver’s seat, height adjustable steering wheel and a dual passenger seat which folds down into a desk.
Handyside said: ‘There is a growing demand for a larger load cube and lower gross vehicle weight panel van at a reasonable price. With almost twice the load volume of the smaller Dispatch yet competitively priced against the rivals, the 900 meets this demand head on.’
Alongside the 900 was a variety of new specially-built off-the-shelf vehicles, including a new high-spec minibus from Advanced, a number of new refrigerated van conversions from Somers and a new compact tail-lift Relay.
The M1 minibus has been upgraded at no extra cost to Enterprise spcecification. This adds a radio/CD player, ABS brakes and a driver’s airbag as standard. The minibuses can be ordered with nine, 10, 11 or 15 seats and prices range from £12,995 to £17,745 ex-VAT.
On the temperature-controlled front, Citroen has doubled the number of Somers conversions on offer to 31. This is the result of adding Enterprise versions to Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay – which means standard remote central locking, ABS brakes, radio/CD palyer and driver’s airbag as standard.
Meanwhile the new tail-lift Relay model will be of interest to fleets wishing to comply with increasingly stringent health and safety rules at work, as the addition of a tail-lift eliminates the need for lifting and carrying.
The tail-lift is supplied by Tipmaster and will carry a total of 33kg. When not in use, it swivels and folds away, thus not taking up valuable cargo space. The platform is 1,346mm long and 775mm wide.
The tail-lift conversion is £1,900 ex-VAT.
