A FLEET of 20 smart fortwos, some liveried in red and yellow, are being used to promote fire safety in Cheshire.

The vehicles are part of the Cheshire Fire Service’s fleet for its ‘Be Smart Be Safe’ campaign and will be driven by fire safety officers. DaimlerChrysler Services Fleet Management is supplying the vehicles, which will be used in promotions at schools, shopping centres and road shows.

Chris Turnock, deputy chief responsible for risk reduction at Cheshire Fire Service, said: ‘The smart fleet is high profile, economical, practical and ideal for promoting the campaign.’
