WHAT is a condom doing on a driver training website? Unsurprisingly reduceroadrisk.co.uk caught my eye with this visual icebreaker.

It wasn’t just the use of a contraceptive to promote safe driving but also the zesty green layout that made reduceroadrisk.co.uk (the website for Mac Driving Excellence) stand out so much.

The homepage features the standard side menu, along with an animated top menu. This site is easy to navigate and the good use of funky images and fresh design makes it a pleasure too.

The site offers driver training for a broad range of vehicle types, including cars, LCVs, minibuses and motorcycles.

Each training section includes a full description of which particular modules are included on the course and how it can benefit your business. All the course information is also available to download as a pdf.

To get more information or to book a course with Mac you can either phone or fill in an enquiry form on the contact page. Something missing from the site was the ability to book a course online.

Another problem with the site was the search engine. On entering a word, an error page comes up. A neat little practical tool on the site was the ‘return on investment’ (ROI) calculator. Input fleet size and accident rates and you can see the amount of money Mac could save in repair costs.

Mac can also produce specific reports/graphs to reflect fleet size and timescale for investment return.

Driver training has become an essential part of a fleet manager’s health and safety strategy and this website is a good way to read up on how training can improve your business.

The lowdown:

The site: www.reduceroadrisk.co.uk.

We like: Simple to use and well designed

We don’t like: Couldn’t book course online and search engine didn’t work
