IN between (hopefully) giving the All Blacks a good pasting in New Zealand, the British and Irish Lions rugby squad will be travelling in style, thanks to a sponsorship deal with Land Rover.
Manufacturer involvement with British sporting stars continues with cricket star Andrew Flintoff becoming a brand ambassador for the Volkswagen Touareg 4x4 model.
The team will be transported to official off-field engagements in a fleet of Discovery 3, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models during their two-month stay in New Zealand.
Lions chief executive John Feehan said: ‘This is a great boost for us. These vehicles will ensure we travel in style and comfort, arriving relaxed for official engagements.’
He has taken delivery of a 5.0-litre V10 TDI model, claiming it is the perfect choice for his lifestyle.
The cricketer said: ‘I have been impressed by the Touareg’s power and performance while comfort and safety are also top priorities for my family.’
