TRUCKMAKER MAN ERF UK has signed a contract worth more than £1billion with the Defence Procurement Agency to provide 5,000 vehicles to the British Armed Forces.

The Swindon-based arm of the German manufacturer will be assembling hardware on 4x4, 6x4, 8x6 and 8x8 axle chassis configurations for combat and logistics support applications.

Alongside aircraft refuellers, hook-loaders and flatbeds on display and in action at the Millbrook event, the company also showed how its mainstream coach and bus products can be adapted for military use.

MAN ERF supplies three A51 chassis with Marcopolo bodies to the MoD as troop carriers. Similar-spec models are in operation with Ryder Truck Rental and are being tendered on a range of other MoD projects.
