Camera cash

SPEED cameras generated fines of more than £113 million in just 12 months, the Department for Transport has revealed.

The department said that £91,848,844 of the revenue raised from speeding and red light offences detected by cameras between March 2003 and March 2004 was ‘reinvested in road safety’ as payments back to partnerships including police, local highway authorities and magistrates’ courts.
