    Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDI

AUDI’S supremely elegant A6 Avant gets a new entry-level model this month when the 2.0-litre TDI joins the range. Powered by a 138bhp Euro IV-compliant four-cylinder engine, it lacks the outright oomph of its 2.7 and 3.0-litre TDI cousins, although it is more affordable. Prices start at £26,105 on-the-road – £2,500 less than the 2.7 TDI Avant. If performance isn’t your number one priority, this is the A6 Avant for you.

    Renault Clio

BIGGER and roomier inside than the car it replaces, the Clio III goes on sale in the UK in September as a three or five-door hatchback with a range of Euro IV-compliant petrol and diesel engines. With sharper looks and more technology, the new Clio looks set to continue the model’s success. And, in keeping with Renault tradition, it has already been awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test programme.
