Traffic alert aid

A £490 million project to give drivers real-time information on England’s motorways has been announced by the Government.

The 10-year National Roads Telecommunications Services project will upgrade existing systems to provide a national digital system linking more than 14,000 message signs, emergency telephones, CCTV cameras and traffic monitoring systems with the Highways Agency’s network of traffic control centres.
