Fleets ignore safety ratings

THE majority of fleets ignore Euro NCAP safety ratings when compiling vehicle choice lists.

Research from one contract hire and leasing company has shown that just 14% of fleets use only four or five-star rated vehicles on choice lists.

Nigel Fletcher, deputy managing director at ALD Automotive, said: ‘It is clear there is still much work to do to encourage fleets to adopt best practice in vehicle choice.’

The research polled more than 300 fleets on their views of key industry issues. Fletcher added: ‘With more than 100 vehicles having achieved the top two ratings for occupant protection there is plenty of model choice.’
