THE Toyota Hilux has been beefed up with a power boost for the 2.5-litre engine and a new 3.0-litre diesel powerplant. The current 2.5 D-4D model only offered 102bhp and this has been increased 118bhp.

The new 3.0-litre unit offers 169bhp and 253lb-ft of torque.

All engines are now Euro IV compliant and there will be a new automatic transmission on offer when the model goes on sale in January next year.

The new models still leave the Nissan Navara as the sector’s most powerful performer – it offers 174bhp and torque of 297lb-ft.
