What is your fleet history?
I joined the fleet industry five years ago, after many years of working in a dealership.
This gave very strong foundations for fleet management and is the best training you can get.
My first fleet position was for a fleet of 700-plus cars – I was thrown in at the deep end and I loved every moment. I joined Kaba four years ago and have a fleet of about 200, with a 50-50 split between cars and light commercials.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
The first is health and safety for my van drivers and the second is saving money.
Which part of your job do you enjoy the most?
Seeing staff getting their new vehicles. Also winning battles – I am not a happy loser.
What would be your dream job?
I already have it. Maybe a few tweaks, more money and more holidays, but who wouldn’t want that?
Are you reading a book at the moment?
Gung Ho by Ken Blanchard. It is about choosing your attitude and the way it reflects on those around you.
