Pricewatch: Renault Clio Renaultsport 2.0 16V 197 3dr v MINI Cooper S 1.6 3dr

THE Clio 197 is a really good car. It looks right, drives fantastically well and has a great pedigree.

All the ingredients for a top hot hatch that should be loved by new and used buyers alike.

But against the new MINI’s residual values it gets stuffed: the Cooper S would be worth £2,100 more in 60,000 miles’ time.

In the RV world, the MINI is a phenomenon. Only the odd luxury SUV or sportscar comes close to its spectacular performance.
