RENAULT has just launched a new trim level in the Megane to sit below the range-topping Renaultsport hot hatch models.

Badged GT, it brings sports styling inside and out with the choice of more fleet-friendly engines than the hot hatch model’s 200bhp-plus petrol unit.

The 2.0 dCi turbodiesel GT here offers 150bhp, out-performing its French rival, Peugeot’s 307 GT, which has 136bhp.

The Renault is ahead on power, but which model will perform best financially over a three-year/ 60,000-mile fleet lifecycle?
