Dave Hakin
Logistics director
First Fleet

After spending 22 years in your last job, what have the past few months been like in your new one?
To begin a new job for me was like a breath of fresh air.

Do you have a typical day and, if so, what is it like?
It begins with early-morning organised chaos, which then develops into early-afternoon organised chaos. I have a very changeable dynamic work life.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
To have worked towards and achieved the position of logistics director.

What would you say is the best part about working in the transport industry?
It would have to be dealing with demanding customers which makes for a varied and short day.

Have you always worked in the motor industry?
I have worked in the car industry since 1972, when I became a transporter driver. I have also been a traffic allocater, transport manager and general manager. I was in charge of logistic operations at Inchcape Automotive and became logistics director for First Fleet in July 2006.
