How many vehicles are you responsible for?
I manage approximately 600 vehicles, including cars, light commercial vehicles and HGV trucks – some equipped with road/rail capability, cranes and tail lifts.
Which part of the job do you enjoy the most?
I am passionate about road safety and was the winner of the Safe Vehicle Maintenance Award at the 2006 Fleet Safety Forum Awards of Excellence. And I thoroughly enjoy that side of my work.
Why did you move into fleet management?
I was inspired by my father who was a long-distance truck driver, as well as a 1970s TV series called The Brothers which was about a fictitious road haulage company.
What has been your best career moment to date?
Being awarded chartered manager status in 2005. It has enabled me to become more professional in my approach to leading people and managing change.
What would be your dream job?
My dream job would be to manage a speedway team and be the best.
