Fleet careers: How are you settling in?

Peter Flanagan, field sales manager, Thrifty Car & Van Rental

Sum up the past few months in a couple of sentences.
Exciting – the diversity and availability of our fleet enables us to tailor our rental business to demanding requirements and the support from our clients is excellent.

Have you always been in sales?
Yes, mainly in rental and contract hire. I’ve enjoyed a long career in the motor trade – I suppose it’s in my blood.

What has been your career highlight to date?
My current appointment, of course.

What would make your working life easier?
It’s already here – satellite navigation. It’s a technology that helps me be more effective.

What was your first job?
I worked for a life assurance company in London, selling life assurance over the telephone. I was the guy that called you during your dinner, although that was nearly 20 years ago before the call centre boom.

What would be your dream job?
Opening the Thrifty Barbados branch.
