    Fiat Grande Punto

THE Grande Punto arrives this week, replacing its smaller predecessor the Punto (which continues in a limited range). It’s larger, sleeker and much stiffer than the original model. With six engines – four diesel and two petrol – Fiat has high hopes for the new version. So high, in fact, that it is hoping to double sales and has invested in a multi-million pound marketing campaign to boost its appeal. Prices start at £7,594.

    Nissan Note

WHILE Nissan says the Note doesn’t conform to any market sector, in size and price it’s a rival for the mini- MPV offerings from Vauxhall with the Meriva and Renault’s Modus. The Note offers flexible interior accommodation, making it ideal for young families, while the range of fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines make it a good bet for tax-conscious drivers. Prices start at under £10,000.
