    Mitsubishi L200

THE latest version of Mitsubishi’s trusty workhorse arrives with a sleek and stylish new look. The Japanese giant is trying to lure more SUV aficionados into buying a pick-up instead, but without alienating its core market of farmers and builders. A brand new Euro IV-compliant 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine gives 134bhp, while those opting for the bling Warrior version will get an upgrade to 160bhp.

    Volkswagen Jetta

THE Jetta name makes a comeback in the UK on the back of this booted Golf. Replacing the Bora, the Jetta range mirrors that of the Golf on which it is based, meaning a choice of FSI petrol or TDI turbodiesel engines. There’s also a turbocharged FSI, borrowed from the Golf GTI, offering 197bhp. Buyers have the choice of a six-speed manual or the DSG clutchless manual gearbox. Prices start at £14,635.
