ELECTRICAL retailer Homebuy has signed a deal with telematics firm Masternaut to fit satellite location and navigation technology to its fleet of 850 sales, service and delivery vehicles.

It means the company’s fleet manager Mark Fogarty can monitor vehicles live via PC. The contract with Masternaut is worth more than £1 million, but provides added security, greater control over fleet operations and increased efficiency, the company said.

The deal includes in-vehicle navigation, route planning and mobile data systems that eliminate paperwork.

Fogarty said: ‘By simply logging on to the web we immediately have a complete picture of everything going on, 24 hours a day. It’s a great management tool.’
