First green taxi service launched with Toyota Prius cars

A LONDON-based mini-cab service is claiming to be the capital’s first all-hybrid private hire firm.

Greentomatocars is running a pilot scheme in west London which it hopes to roll out across the capital by the summer. It has five Toyota Prius vehicles on its fleet and plans to increase this number to 50 by the end of June. Tom Pakenham, who started the company, said: ‘The idea is to provide the greenest service possible.

We want to show that it is possible to provide a top-level, environmentally friendly service at a very good price.’
