LEASING firm ALD Automotive has teamed up with the Woodland Trust to launch an environmentally-friendly CO2 offset scheme.

The plan is to plant trees and create new woodland to offset CO2 emissions from vehicles.

ALD analysed the business mileage undertaken by its own fleet and paid the Woodland Trust money to plant new trees to absorb the equivalent of the vehicles’ emissions.

It now hopes its clients will follow suit.

ALD marketing director David Yates said: ‘We not only wanted to raise awareness of this issue, we wanted to offer companies a more positive environmental initiative through a carbon offsetting scheme.

‘It is vital that companies and drivers are aware of the damaging effect vehicles have on our environment.’
