Fewer deaths

THE number of deaths and injuries on Scotland’s roads in 2005 was the lowest for more than 50 years, figures produced by the Scottish Executive show.

A total of 286 people were killed, 20 fewer than in 2004. Promotion of safe driving, road safety improvements and tougher enforcement were cited as key reasons.
