IAN Green, company car co-ordinator, Peverel Group.

  • Why did you decide to take the role?

I considered this to be a great opportunity to develop the role while learning new skills and making use of existing knowledge relating to health and safety.

  • What is your background?

Most of the nineties were spent with Whitbread as a restaurant and public house manager. More recently, I worked for Fit4Fleet looking after company car drivers on behalf of various leasing companies.

  • How do you learn about the fleet industry?

I have gained valuable knowledge from fleet journals, fleet managers I have met via ACFO and my account manager at Masterlease.

  • What have been the worst and best days over the past five months?

My worst day in the job was when I discovered that I had ordered the wrong car for one of our service engineers. The best day was a few days later when someone else in the company wanted it.

  • What initiatives have you in mind for the fleet?

As a company we are exploring the benefits of telematics, hybrid vehicles and alternative fuelling.
