FORMER Fleet News Award winner John Bradley was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.

As fleet manager at Hampshire Constabulary, Bradley leads a department with a £6.3 million annual budget and nearly 1,000 vehicles, including cars and light commercial vehicles.

Commenting on his MBE, Bradley said: “I am absolutely elated. It was a complete surprise. I feel very proud and humbled to receive such an award.’

He won Fleet News Fleet Manager of the Year (401-plus vehicles) in 2006.

Professor Garel Rhys OBE, of the Centre for Automotive Industry Research at Cardiff Business School, has also been honoured in the New Year Honours list.

He received the CBE for services to economic research in Wales.

Others from the industry honoured in the list are Kevin Smith, CBE chief executive, GKN plc, who was made a Knights Bachelor for services to Industry

Clive Ronald Reath Bennett, chief executive of the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency, was awarded the CBE.

Christopher Thomas Bullock, chief executive of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, was awarded the MBE for services to road safety. Richard John Fryer chairman of the Driving Instructors' Association was awarded the MBE for services to road safety
