The chairman for this year’s inaugural Fleet Van Conference on November 22 has been announced as John Lewis, director general of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association.

In his role, Mr Lewis is the chief executive manager of the trade association that lobbies Government and its executive agencies on behalf of its 700 members.

It also provides them with services and regulates their conduct.

As part of the BVRLA’s objectives of supporting the business motorist, Mr Lewis also sits on the Motorists Forum, a Government advisory body on all motoring matters and he is chairman of the Forum’s Driving For Better Business working group.

The working group was set up by the Forum to implement the recommendations from its Work Related Road Safety report.

Mr Lewis will chair a day of in-depth presentations and debate during the conference, which will be held at the Concept Centre at Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedfordshire.

The day includes case studies from major fleet operators, expert advice on risk management, vehicle safety, tracking, racking and driver management.

Claire Shrewsbury, from the government-backed Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving Scheme (SAFED), and Edmund King from the RAC Foundation will also be taking part, along with organisations ranging from residual value experts CAP to financial specialists Deloitte.
