Ian Parris, transport and resources manager,
West Anglia Insulation
How many vehicles are on your fleet?
We currently have 22 cars, 72 commercial vehicles and three 7.5-tonne trucks. How long have you been in the industry?
I have been transport manager since the start of the year when I was moved into the post to replace an outside agency that was unable to cope with the size and demands of our fleet. Are you following a
career path?
No – I joined the company six years ago as contracts supervisor and have had several positions within the same organisation. What is the first thing
you do when you arrive
at work?
I immediately put on the kettle, start up my computer and check through my emails. Is it a 9-5 job?
My job should be 8am to 5pm, but I arrive at about 6.20am and stay until after 6pm. I need to do these hours because I also manage the company’s plant and our plant engineers, ID badges, company mobile phones, material orders, warehouse, storeman and delivery driver.
