Vehicle tracking firm Quartix has become the first company in its sector to be nominated as meeting the standards set down in the Fleet News Charter for Fleet Suppliers.

Quartix was nominated by John Watterson, regional director of Sunlight Service Group, who operates a fleet of more than 700 vehicles, with more than 200 cars and more than 500 vans.

He said: “From the outset, this telematics provider has been onside, making the effort to understand our business to make sure that we don't pay for unnecessary tracking functions. We never have to speak to an answer machine and they always deliver exactly to specification and have a refreshing, 'no fuss' approach to aftersales and warranty support.

“The Quartix team is flexible, supportive and interested , keeping us updated on new developments and making sure that the tracking system takes care of itself and we can get on with running our business.'

The charter was launched at the Fleet News Hit for Six conference in 2006 and is based on the comments of fleet decision-makers about the service standards they would like met by all suppliers.

After a year of development and consultation with the industry, it is hosted on the Fleet News website, along with the names of companies that have achieved the status and their nominees.

Companies listed include Automotive Leasing, Days Contract Hire, Drive and Survive, ING Car Lease, Gilder Volkswagen, Lex, MNH Vehicle Contracts and Premier Recoveries. One of the most recent nominations was AA Accident Management.

Several more companies have been nominated and will be listed on the site shortly.
