Motability ups mileage allowance

The mileage allowance for Motability customers has increased by an additional 15,000 miles to 60,000 miles for a three-year contract.

Mike Betts, chief executive Motability Operations, said: “The increased mileage allowance has been introduced to improve the worry-free nature of the Motability car scheme and is being extremely positively received by customers.

"Those who live in rural areas, or who use their Motability car for frequent hospital visits, will find the additional mileage allowance particularly useful.

"The more-miles policy applies to both existing customers and new. We hope that anyone who has found the mileage allowance a barrier in the past will reconsider the Motability car scheme.”

In addition to the mileage allowance increase from 45,000 miles to 60,000 miles for contract hire users, customers with a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) on a five year agreement have had their allowance increased to 100,000 miles over the period of their contract.

Existing customers on the Motability scheme do not need to apply to be eligible for the changes as the increase will automatically apply to everyone.

The mileage increase is very good news, I often hav to visit hospitals in London , I would be lost without my car, keep up the good work folks. Being disabled is the pits, but Motorbility make my life so much better. Thank you to all involved in this great service

I have moved to the west coast of Argyll, from Motherwell. Mileage would be a real worry without the increase to 60000 for the three years.
