Vauxhall Motors has enjoyed a fleet sales success in October in both the car and van markets.

Sales were up 19% and 41.5% respectively.

In the fleet car market, sales of Corsa were up 44.4%, Astra up 12.5%, Zafira up 13.3% and Vectra up 40.5%.

Vauxhall sold a total of 15,839 new cars to fleets in October, up 19% on the same month last year.

Fleet sales to date at 177,139 are almost 5% better than for the first 10 months of 2006.

In the van market, sales of Vauxhall light commercial vehicles at 3,956 new units were ahead by 41.5% with sales of Astravan up 68.3%, Combo up 49.5%, Vivaro up 24.3% and Corsavan up 283.9%.

Commercial vehicles sales for the year to date are ahead by 3.3% on the same 10 months last year.

In the key corporate sector, sales to end user fleets were up markedly in terms of share and volume year-on-year in both cars and vans, with strong performances across the range.

Maurice Howkins, GM UK fleet sales director, said the October fleet sales performance had been “outstanding”.

“Our sales success story continues and, after a very strong September with tremendous sales of the new ’57 plate, we have had a storming October.

"Corporate buyers and user choosers are finding it hard to resist the combination of class leading whole life costs and real driving excitement,” he said.
