REMARKETING giant Manheim has taken over two auction houses in Portugal.

The sites in Lisbon and Porto have the capacity to sell about 15,000 vehicles between them each year and were acquired from Soc. Leiloes de Veiculos S.A.

The sites already dispose of vehicles on corporate fleets, leasing companies and dealers and Manheim bosses say they will launch new remarketing propositions and technologies.

Jonathan Holland, managing director of Manheim Continental Europe, said: ‘We’re really pleased to have acquired these businesses as they fit nicely into our European development plan of providing remarketing solutions to match the individual requirements of the very different markets across Continental Europe.

‘In Portugal, physical auctions are already an established part of the used vehicle market and this new addition to the group complements our existing remarketing infrastructure in Spain, Holland, Belgium, France and Germany.’
