FLEETS with drivers who take care of their tyres have been rewarded in a prize draw.

Fleet News called on fleets to put forward their tyre life winners in a major competition launched in the Tyre Management Guide, produced in association with Michelin.

Entrants had the chance to win a ViaMichelin X-950T portable GPS navigation system worth more than £300 and three runners-up could receive digital tyre pressure gauges.

The winners have now been chosen and the sat-nav system goes to Ian Macintyre, financial director of Bendicks (Mayfair).

He reported on a Volvo S80 whose Michelin Primacy rear tyres lasted 95,845 over four years.

Another Michelin shod Volvo achieved 106,000 miles on one set, he reported.

The three winners of the digital tyre pressure gauges are driving school boss Kevin O'Brien, Adrienne Beer, key account manager at Experian and Gordon Evans, company director, Lyneham Lanes.
