MARIE Jarrold, car fleet controller British Car Auctions

  • Describe your fleet

We have 420 vehicles ranging from company cars to fire engines. All of our vehicles are outright purchased.

  • How did you get into the industry?

I inherited my initial interest in cars from my father who belonged to a local motor club and took part in car rallying. British Car Auctions were advertising for account controllers in their customer services department and I applied. I have been with the company for 13 years now.

  • Which public figure do you admire?

Jose Mourinho – the Chelsea football team manager. He is a forward, decisive, critical and charismatic man.

  • What’s the worst thing a driver has done?

We have the usual day-to-day occurrences with our drivers such as accidents, loss of keys and road fund licences.

  • What piece of technology could you not live without?

On a work basis, my computer, I would find it horrendous to do my job without it. On a domestic basis it would be my washing machine, which I think most mums would agree is a must.
