Fleet van operators are being urged to take part in research by the Transport Research Laboratory.

It is looking into potential problems arising from the incorrect loading or placement of materials in vans. Your information will help inform researchers as to the sorts of items that are carried most frequently, help quantify the number of accidents and the type of injuries that occur and identify solutions to the issues surrounding their safe transportation.

TRL is particularly looking for operators running vans that:

  • have been adapted to hold extra equipment or tools, from a simple box to an industrial sized piece of machinery
  • have electronic equipment such as a mobile phone or laptop mounted in the driver area
  • have been involved in an accident where the equipment or load has shifted?
