Experts say unmanaged agency drivers using company vans can significantly contribute to a high proportion of crashes.
To assist fleet managers, the Fleet Safety Forum, a division of road safety charity Brake, has compiled a free information sheet and is also running a workshop covering the issue. The aim is to ensure fleets effectively manage the road risk of agency drivers.
Dr Will Murray, who helped produce the information sheet, said: ‘With each crash involving an agency driver costing on average a third more than those of a permanent staff member, there is a financial as well as a moral obligation to ensure these suggestions are carried out.’
The Managing Agency Drivers information sheet about fleet safety aims to provide free and low-cost information to companies.
