Experts on stress in the workplace have compiled a top 10 tip list to help employees deal with the problem.

The list comes as studies show stress now accounts for more than one-third of cases of ill health in companies.

The Forum of Private Business has published the list which urges employees to ask their employers for specific policies on stress.

The list states: “Encourage your firm to develop a company stress policy. An example of one is on the Health & Safety Executive website –www.hse.gov.uk”.

Employees are also encouraged to use support networks to share problems, not to procrastinate at work and set priorities and deal with problems accordingly.

Fleet managers’ performance at work is also suffering because of stress and fatigue, according to findings from the Chartered Management Institute that show half claim workplace health is poor (Fleet News, June 15 2006).
